Hey, it’s been a while now, tonnes of work going on here. I’d just like to give you a little update on what seems to be coming up for Foller.me. Our API has made quite a good job, it’s been included in a few (not so popular) open source libraries, and as I wrote earlier we’ve got an Adobe AIR application almost ready to be released, hopefully this month. We’re also investigating Facebook as a platform and as I mentioned in my personal blog (Facebook API Experiments: Twitter Tags) we’re working on a profile and/or fanpage application tab that will be called “Twitter Tags” powered by our API.
P.S. Thank you for all the shoutouts and suggestions on Twitter, we’re watching those.

We’re glad to announce that we’re getting a desktop app developed by Denis Volokh using Adobe AIR. It’s called the Foller.me Lite, which is a lightweight version of Foller.me but with a few extra features that aren’t yet implemented on the main website. This is just a teaser and the download will be available soon. Meanwhile, take a look at these screenshots:

I hope you heard of the new OneForty.com – a place for all the twitter apps available, also know as an “App Store for Twitter” on Mashable, Tech Crunch and Read Write Web. Well they’ve gone public a few days ago and yes, Foller.me is there too, so if you do use our app, please consider leaving a short 2-3 line review of what you like, at the Foller.me at OneForty.com page.
Thank you,

We investigated profiles that turned out as 404 errors at Foller.me while existing and publicly open on Twitter. They are not the case. The reason is actually us, we keep hitting 502 errors while working with the Twitter API. I’m not sure what’s causing this, the docs say “Twitter is overloaded” but it’s been going on for two days now.
We applied for whitelisting our IP addresses and Twitter account at the API before we even started the coding, and received approval from Twitter. It seems though that our IP address has changed recently, therefore we’re hitting the limit rates again. We submitted a ticket for a refresh of our whitelisting.
I hope that solves the issue.
Cheers,

Mashable.com’s Spark of Genius series covered Foller.me as part of their Microsoft BizSpark Project which showcases a promising new software company, and finds the unique feature that separates it from the competition every week.
Mashable’s author Adam Ostrow, “Editor in Chief at Mashable, responsible for the editorial management and direction of one of the most widely read blogs in the world, covering the latest technologies, trends, and individuals that are driving the current evolution of the Web”, posted a Foller.me review yesterday covering the aspects, features and advantages of our Twitter tool.
The full review can be read here: Foller.me Tells You All About Twitter Users @ Mashable.com
We got a few eye-opening comments and are intending to work hard on implementing several crucial additions before removing the Beta label.
We would like to thank everyone for the support, especially Adam Ostrow.

Yes, finally, Foller.me has reached yet another level of development; a well-deserved “Beta 3″ tag has been placed to mark the beginning of new work stages. Foller.me is now running in the last beta stage (we hope) before we take off that nasty label.
The improvements that have been made from Beta 2 are:
- The Followers Geography is running stable, and loses it’s beta tag thanks to the efficient Google Maps API.
- A new Followers Rate section has been added, which displays a profile’s followers growth rate. Big shout-outs go to @boris from TwitterCounter.
- You can now follow a profile directly from Foller.me via OAuth; no need for your Twitter username or password. Simply click “allow” and viola.
- Collapsible/expandable sections are now personalized via cookies (finally)!
- The Foller.me Rundown (@fmrd) has been optimized after a critical fail, when we tweeted the rundown once every minute during an hour via @fmrd a few days ago.
- A major improvement in caching has been made.
There’s still much to be done. All ideas, comments and suggestions are always appreciated. :)

A month ago, we submitted Foller.me to the ProgrammableWeb Directory and today we’re proud (and excited) to announce that Foller.me has been added to ProgrammableWeb inside the Mashups Directory. Moreover, we’ve been featured as Mashup of The Day. And guess what? We’re not intending to stop. The Foller.me API shall be submitted very soon as well. In the meantime, you can rate and comment Foller.me @ ProgrammableWeb Mashups.

Oooh! The Foller.me API is finally up and running, and already documented here: Foller.me API. We’re anticipating and eagerly waiting for your first widgets, gadget apps and plug-ins developed with the Foller.me API. A great example that is already being used by some blogs is the Foller.me powered widget for WordPress developed by none other than @kovshenin. This simple widget uses the Foller.me API to load up the latest Twitter messages for a specified user, simple and nice eh?
If you have developed or trying to develop some interesting Foller.me API-based tool – let us know. If you have any questions or suggestions – let us know. Let us know about yourself so we can let the world know about you :)

Yes! We finally did it! The WordPress masters of disasters have given us a brand new look, same old bird!… I always believed that the “White as Milk” free template from the WordPress.org directory would be here for like a few weeks, which unfortunately lasted for over two months *sigh* well, it’s all gone now anyway, so goodbye old milk ;)
Still having probs here with the widgetized area (there are four of them actually), especially the Twitter part, which was lagging yesterday due to Twitter fail. Seems to be up and running today, so everything turned out quite good, and remember – we always appreciate your comments and suggestions.
Thanks & always yours,
